Applications

Microwave sensors have become essential components in modern buildings where safety, efficiency, and automation go hand in hand. Unlike traditional PIR sensors, microwave motion detectors offer broader detection range, superior sensitivity, and the ability to sense through non-metallic materials like glass and drywall—making them ideal for complex layouts and high-traffic zones.

In multi-storey buildings or large facilities, microwave motion sensors provide unmatched performance in automating lighting and enhancing security. These buildings typically have multiple corridors, stairwells, and utility areas that require consistent and responsive lighting control.

  • High-Rise Residential & Commercial Towers: Smart lighting in common areas improves energy savings and safety.

  • Hospitals: Automated lighting in patient corridors and back-end service zones supports hygiene and operational efficiency.

  • Hotels: Seamless lighting experience for guests in hallways, lobbies, and service areas.

  • Warehouses & Corporate Campuses: Motion detection ensures well-lit zones only when needed, cutting power consumption in unused spaces.

Parking

Microwave motion sensor in parking areas detect vehicles and people instantly, activating lights only when needed. Their wide sensor range improves safety, visibility, and energy efficiency.

Staircase

A microwave motion sensor in staircases ensures lights switch on promptly, reducing fall risks. Their wide detection range works efficiently even in low-light or partially obstructed stairwells.

Corridor

Microwave sensor applications in corridors offer wide, blind spot-free detection. Unlike PIR, microwave motion detectors sense through walls and glass, ideal for commercial and high-rise interiors.

Fire Exit

In fire exits, microwave motion sensors activate lights instantly upon detecting movement, ensuring safe evacuation. Their ability to detect through obstructions makes them vital for emergency response.

Function

  1. Can identify day and night: The Microwave Sensor can work in the daytime and at night when it is adjusted to the “sun” position (max). It can work in the ambient light of less than 3LUX when adjusted on the “3” position (min). As for the adjustment pattern, please refer to the testing pattern.
  2. SENS adjustable: The Microwave Motion Sensor can be adjusted according to using location. The detection distance of low sensitivity could be only 2m, and high sensitivity could be 16m, which fits a large room.
  3. Time delay is added continually: When it receives the second induction signal within the first induction, it will restart to timer from the moment.
  4. Time delay is adjustable. It can be set according to the consumer’s desire. The minimum time is 10 sec±3 sec. The maximum is 12 min±1 min.

 Daylight Function

The hold time is set to 30 sec, and the Lux level is set to 300. The light turns on when movement is detected and turns off after people leave, specifically at night. Microwave sensor applications include corridors and staircases.

 No Daylight Function

The daylight threshold is set to 2000 lux to disable the light. It turns on when movement is detected, and after people leave, the light turns off once the hold time of 30 seconds has elapsed.

Calibration

  1. Sensitivity: Adjust the sensor’s detection range from 2m to 16m by turning the reach knob. Turn it fully left for minimum range and fully right for maximum. Set based on location needs.
  2. Time Setting: Choose how long the light stays ON (10 seconds to 12 minutes). Movement restarts the timer. Use the shortest time during setup and walk test for accurate adjustment.
  3. Light Control (LUX) Setting: Set light sensitivity from 2 to 2000 lux. Fully left = night-only mode (2 lux), fully right = day mode. Turn fully right during testing in daylight, then adjust per requirement.

Nano 16 Installation

Installation

  1. All electrical installations must be carried out by a suitably qualified and registered electrician.
  2. Always isolate mains power before installation.
  3. Remove the cover by checking the notch on the LDR side.
  4. Use the base to mark the drill holes on the mounting surface.
  5. Drill holes and insert the wall plugs if required.
  6. Feed power cable and load cable through base holes and securely affix the base.
  7. Connect the power wire and the load wire to the connection terminals according to
the electrical connection. Do not exceed the max rated load.
  8. Replace and secure base cover, Calibrate and replace the front cover.

Test

  1. Turn the LUX knob & SENS knob clockwise on the maximum.  Turn the TIME knob anti-clockwise on the minimum (10s).
  2. When powered on, the light turns on immediately, then switches off after about 10 seconds. After that, the sensor operates normally upon detecting motion.
  3. If additional motion is detected during the initial activation, the timer resets and restarts from that moment.
  4. Turn the LUX knob to the minimum (3) for night-only operation. The sensor will activate the light only when ambient light is below 3 LUX.

How It Works

A microwave motion sensor works by emitting high-frequency waves and detecting changes in the reflected signal. When motion occurs within the microwave sensor range, the reflection shifts, triggering a response. Unlike passive sensors, microwave sensors actively scan their surroundings, making them ideal for detecting subtle movement, even through walls or glass, across diverse microwave sensor applications like corridors, parking, stairwells, washrooms, storerooms and offices

Note

  • An electrician or an experienced human can install it.
  • Cannot be installed on an uneven and shaky surface
  • In front of the sensor, there shouldn’t be an obstructive object affecting detection.
  • Avoid installing it near metal and glass, which may affect the sensor.
  • For your safety, please don’t open the case if you find a hitch after installation.

Troubleshoot

Malfunction Cause Remedy
The load will not work
Wrong light control selected
Load faulty
The mains is switched OFF
Adjust Setting Change
Load Switch ON
The load is always on
Continuous movement in detection zone
Check zone setting
The load is ON without any identifiable movement
The sensor is not mounted for detecting movement reliably. Movement occurred, but was not identified by the sensor (movement behind the wall, movement of a small object in the immediate lamp vicinity, etc.)
Securely mount enclosure Check zone setting
The load is ON without any identifiable movement
Rapid movements are being suppressed to minimize malfunctioning or the detection of the zone you have set is too small.
Check zone setting.
