When a person sits at a desk reading, typing lightly or attending a call, a conventional motion sensor can let the lights time out. The fix is not always to extend the delay across an entire floor. Plan a detection zone around the actual seated positions, then test it with the lighting circuit and daylight conditions that occupants use.
A walk test proves that a sensor detects an entrance route. It does not prove that the same unit will keep the light on during a quiet meeting or focused desk work. Breathing-level detection helps with quiet work, but the seated area must still fall within the model’s smaller presence zone.
NANO PRO-S is a ceiling-mounted surface option and NANO PRO-F is a flush-mount option. Both are specified for 5.8 GHz operation, 360-degree detection, 120-277 V AC supply, 400 W LED load, adjustable daylight threshold and a 5-second to 30-minute hold time. Their published breathing detection radius is 2-3 m, while movement and slight-motion radii are listed as 3-4 m. These are different zones: do not use the walk-detection figure to promise seated coverage.
| Decision | NANO PRO-S | NANO PRO-F |
|---|---|---|
| Installation format | Surface-mounted ceiling sensor | Flush-mounted ceiling sensor |
| Published breathing radius | 2-3 m | 2-3 m |
| Published movement radius | 3-4 m | 3-4 m |
| Published LED load | 400 W | 400 W |
| Good reason to choose | Surface installation suits the ceiling plan | Flush appearance suits a prepared ceiling opening |
Confirm the exact ceiling detail, wiring and compatibility with the lighting control design before ordering. Both models are marked IP20; do not specify them for wet or exposed locations without a suitable enclosure and an approved installation design.
Place the intended seated positions on a plan. Compare their distance from the proposed ceiling point with the model’s stated breathing radius, then note glass partitions and nearby movement outside the room. A motion route and a quiet-occupancy zone are not interchangeable.
Have a qualified installer follow the product instructions and set a test delay and daylight condition suitable for commissioning. Walk into the zone, sit at the furthest intended chair and work quietly for longer than the test hold time. Repeat after adjusting placement or detection setting. Do not infer breathing detection from the light staying on after a recent walk-through.
Test the corridor, neighboring room and moving equipment while the monitored room is empty. Tune the detection level and location to avoid unwanted switching, then restore the daylight threshold and hold time for normal use. If seated coverage and adjacent-zone separation cannot both be achieved, reconsider position or the number of zones.
Record the exact model, ceiling height, zone drawing, load, daylight threshold, hold time and results for the furthest seated position and adjacent corridor. Sensinova lists a 2.5-4 m mounting-height range for these models; choose a position within the model instructions and verify performance on site. Electrical work belongs with a qualified installer.
Explore the true presence sensor range and send a seating plan to Sensinova before specifying the number and location of units.
