A deep wardrobe, a display shelf and an under-cabinet kitchen strip need different lighting responses. One should light when a door opens; another should respond only when a hand approaches. Decide what action should switch each LED zone before a carpenter drills the cabinet or an electrician chooses the driver.
Door-sense mode uses the door surface and sensor position to control the light as the shutter opens and closes. It suits enclosed wardrobes and cupboards where the closed door has a predictable position. Wave-switch mode gives a touch-free on/off action for open shelves, kitchen task lighting or display units. Test with the actual door finish and gap: a drawing cannot prove that the sensor will see the closed panel reliably.
The broader Sensinova wardrobe sensor range includes several products. Match each cabinet to a working trigger and wiring zone before selecting a sensor.
NEO E15 and NEO D15 both specify 12/24 V DC supply, a 6 A maximum current, door-sense and wave-switch modes, and a maximum switching capacity of 72 W at 12 V or 144 W at 24 V. Both give nominal sensing distances of 12-17 cm in door mode and 4-6 cm in wave mode. Both share these stated electrical capabilities, so compare their physical fit and confirm the variant before purchase.
For a two-shutter cabinet, NEO E15-DD is described for dual-door logic: opening either door can turn on the shared light, which switches off after both doors close. Do not assume a single-door sensor will provide that behavior without checking the cabinet design.
| Product | Verified modes | Power and switching rating | Useful selection question |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEO E15 | Door sense / wave switch | 12/24 V DC; 72 W at 12 V or 144 W at 24 V | Does its sensor head fit the planned cabinet detail? |
| NEO D15 | Door sense / wave switch | 12/24 V DC; 72 W at 12 V or 144 W at 24 V | Does its mounting method fit the joinery? |
| NEO E15-DD | Dual-door use; door sense / wave | 12/24 V DC; 72 W at 12 V or 144 W at 24 V | Do two shutters share one lighting zone? |
Mark the proposed sensor head, door swing, overlap and clearance. For door mode on E15 or D15, the nominal sensing distance is 12-17 cm; the actual response depends on surface and geometry. A sliding door or reflective finish should be tested with a sample before final machining.
Use a compatible 12 V or 24 V DC constant-voltage arrangement as specified for the chosen model. Add up every connected LED strip on that controller and stay inside its current and switching limits. Keep the driver accessible for service and have the wiring checked by a qualified installer. A low-voltage sensor does not make a poorly installed mains-powered driver inherently safe.
In door mode, close and open every shutter repeatedly and verify no unintended activation through gaps. In wave mode, check the intended hand position, nearby traffic and reach when the cabinet is in use. If dimming is needed, confirm the chosen model’s control behavior and LED driver compatibility before promising a particular brightness or memory function.
Keep a record of the selected mode, sensor location, door finish, supply voltage, total LED load and the test result for each shutter or gesture position. Leave access to the controller and driver rather than sealing them behind fixed joinery.
